Employers Benefit From Chaplaincy
When an employee or new team member joins your staff you get the whole person, or at least you expect to be receiving the whole person. They each bring with them their minds and thoughts about their assignments. They bring their physical body, sick or well, right in the front door. They bring with them all of the pressures from home, financial, relational, family crisis, stress with children, etc. Joyful or grieving, this person is now on your team.
You hope that they will bring with them a healthy functional body, a clear thinking mind, sober at all times, happiness with their marriage and their children, an ethical world view and a set of character traits that enhance your team spirit. If you notice that a particular person isn’t “on top of his game,” are you the person to try to fix the problem, or do you just hope things get better?
What is your role as management? Should you be the person to listen to all of the problems, cry with the depressed, encourage the stressed or bail out the one in trouble? Have you ever wished there was someone on your staff who could do all of those things for everyone else on the team? But then two people on the payroll would be non-productive while one of them was coaching or fathering the other one. That turns out to be pretty expensive.
In times past, most of the employees of a company attended a church on Sunday. On a regular basis, they were receiving character development and spiritual input that guided their ethical values. We are now in the 21st century and more than seventy percent of your staff is not a member of a local church and they have no pastoral guidance. While at the same time this decrease in the role of church membership is prevalent, another influence is rising within the commercial community. It is the role of the community or workplace chaplain.
The National Conservative Christian Church has developed an affordable chaplaincy program for small employers and organizations that is quite unique in Christian ministry. Our trained Three Dimension Character Chaplain will come to your business once a week, to spend not more than three to five minutes with each of your staff, but they have an on-the-job purpose: develop higher level character habits in your staff.
They are each equipped in three dimensions of life: spirit, soul and body. They are trained in and have a system to improve the character of each team member, elevate the ethics and loyalty ingredients of your entire staff. They are not stepping into your world to confront any of your staff about their faith or religion. They will not discuss their own faith unless the employee initiates such a conversation. Then, like all counseling issues, that will be discussed “off the clock.”
You have made an investment in your workforce. That investment continues, through additional training, employee benefits and payroll taxes. Our purpose is to increase your return on that investment. The objective of a 3-D Character Chaplain is to inspire personal worth and to point to solutions of personal problems, family pressures and their off-the-job life experience, which influences their performance at work.
The fact is that caring for the whole person produces a list of benefits in the workplace or within any organization, including:
- Increased punctuality
- Reduced stress
- Increased employee focus on the job
- Company or team loyalty
- A safer work environment
- Less absenteeism
- Improved teamwork and performance
- Reduced turnover
- Decreased theft or fraud
- Better attitudes about on-the-job conditions
- Better health and fewer sick days
- Increased cooperation among coworkers and supervisors
- Improved customer relations
The 3-D Character Chaplaincy is presented to the staff as an employee benefit, since most of the interaction with personnel is after hours. But the actual beneficiary is the management of the business as the increased productivity becomes more measurable. Staff maintenance, like equipment maintenance, improves performance and extends life expectancy.
The next move is yours. Let our local 3-D Character Chaplain meet with your leadership and make a plan to offer to your staff one of the most personal benefits you can provide, a personal chaplain and counselor. The monthly cost of this high-worth benefit is only slightly above the cost of “free parking.”
All of our chaplains are trained behavioral counselors or they have access to both male and female counselors for meeting the emotional and behavioral issues of your team. If your business chooses to set up an Employee Assistance Program for counseling of employees at a reduced flat rate for maximum number of sessions, that service is available.
We also offer temperament analysis profiling of supervisors, select employees, or new applicants, for better placement and improved job performance. That significant human resource service can be defined by letter agreement.
